Christopher Moore-WOW

A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore-quite possibly the best book I have ever read! This book has opened my eyes to a totally new type of reading genre, which I love. Contemporary writing is off beat realistic to the point of no return and the genre I will be looking for from this day forward. A Dirty Job was hilarious but could also make a person cry. It almost seems as it was written just for me to of read. The sheer darkness of the book was appealing, but then throw in sick humour and vulgarity and story line and it is turned into an unforgettable novel. The book left me begging for more, I even read the authors notes at the end. I read cover to cover and still wasn’t satisfied. The epilogue answered some questions but not nearly enough, I still need to know what happened to Charlie’s sole, did Sophie kill anyone else, and was the darkness gone for good?
I stayed up for hours to read this book, read during class and thought of reading while I wasn’t. I was engaged in this book from the beginning. As soon as I finished the book I told Nicole that I had a new favourite author and book.
This book type, contemporary, is a new favourite of mine. It’s weird but amazing all in the same. It brings together so many different components, emotions and writing styles.

Back in Time

Since I have not been able to write any decent blog posts since finishing my books, I have decided to go back in time. I am going to write a reflection on the free verse book Life on the Refrigerator Door. To me this book was so easy to read because it was real life, ways people live and real issues happening to life like people. I couldn’t imagine living without my mom. What could have been going through her daughters head? I could not even imagine the emotions and feelings.
The typical teenager drama must have faded over time but the memory of her mother would always stay close to her heart. This book makes its reader realise how important family is and that, putting effort into relationships with your parents is always worth it.
I never want to have to closely relate to this book, as it would kill me if my mother were so sick or in pain. However my mom and Claire’s mom are quite similar in the ways that both are extremely strong willed, and self reliant with a soft spot for their children.
This book made me appreciate all that my mom does for me and made me want to keep her to myself forever.

I feel that the author was trying to make the reader appreciate their mothers. Also the author is making a point that a mother daughter relationship is an important thing and that if they are breaking down they deserve to be worked on,. communication is important.

Like many teanagers, my relationship with my mother is atrained at times. howebver in the end I know she loves me and that I love her and nothing will ever change that.

I Cant Read When excited!!!!

During last reading period is when I found out that our basketball team was accepted into regional’s. I was very excited and unable to focus on much else. The smile on my face never left not even for a moment. I did manage to read a few pages of a basketball book, and a few basketball jokes in a joke book. I was so focused on basketball every time I tried to calm down and read I ended up talking about my excitement. I plan to speed reda through a book to make up for any lost time!!! Still open to suggestions of books.

What To Read Now?

I have tried to start two new books since last blogging; however both to me have not been speaking to me. I recently went to the library and picked out a new book, Escape From Egypt. I am hoping this book will be a better match for what I enjoy to read about. Some questions that arise before reading this book are; what does it have to do with Egypt? Will I learn about Egypt? The reason I chose this book was because I am going to Egypt so I was naturally drawn to it. Although I have not yet started this book, out of lack of time, I am looking forward to reading it. Hopefully I will find some time at home to start this book and finish it before it is due back to the library. Also I am open to any other reading suggestions you may have.

I am now finished the book WINKIE it was very interesting in the sense that I couldn’t put it down, however I was very disappointed with the ending, it did not answer all my questions such as, what was the final verdict of the trial and what happened to the younger bear. However I enjoyed that it was a very good book and I would recommend to someone that was looking for something odd yet different to read.
I have read three books since the start of the semester they include; WINKIE, Dead End Job and Life on the refrigerator door.
All three of these books have not been challenging to read though they keep my attention. I am awful for, while reading I do nothing else until I am finished my book, no matter how it is in length.
My favourite of the three would probably have to be life on the refrigerator door because it was easy to follow and it made you feel as if you were the one who the letters were intended for. The only questions that would arise from this book were if it was real or not, because to be able to imagine something this wonderful, yet horrible would be crazy.

MORE ABOUT WINKIE

I really hate how this book in the end left me the reader looking for answeres. The author probably did this for dramatic effect, which was achieved.

In my mind I would like to think that the traial ended with everyone seeing the truth and finding Winkie innocent. I think that the jury would see this through compasion for the bear. also the flashbacks in the novel helped me in making my decision for innocence.

DEAD END JOB

The novel dead End Job was very short in length however the story behind it was very exhilarating yet chilling.

A small summary of the story would be this girl working at a gas station started getting stalked by a guy who fell in love with her and became murderous towards her.

A two line summary is able to show how crazy the novel was, there as kidnapping, following and driving away loved ones.
